Meet the Team

Seth Guterman MD FACEP

President

Dr. Guterman is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and seasoned healthcare executive with over 29 years of experience across clinical, entrepreneurial, and turnaround roles. He began his career as a practicing physician and clinical instructor at the University of Illinois and Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.

In 1999, Dr. Guterman founded Emergency Care Physician Services (ECPS), a physician staffing and management company that assumed departmental leadership for five financially distressed hospital emergency departments over 14 years. Through strategic operational improvements, ECPS restored stability and care quality to underserved communities.

In 2001, he developed a pioneering EHR tailored for emergency departments, which received national recognition from CMS. This platform played a critical role in a 2008 hospital turnaround after the facility had publicly announced its closure. The EHR system was implemented hospital-wide, enhancing clinical workflows and patient outcomes. By 2012, the software achieved ONC Certification, and in 2013, the hospital was sold for $40 million—underscoring the EHR’s role in its financial and clinical recovery. Dr. Guterman’s EHR platform grew to serve over 40 hospitals nationwide, providing scalable clinical software for providers and staff. In 2013, a precursor to MHA, led by Dr. Guterman, acquired four rural hospitals on the brink of closure. Leveraging operational innovation and turnaround expertise, his team kept these critical access facilities open and serving their communities. This effort earned national acclaim in 2015, including the Turnaround Atlas Award for Corporate Turnaround of the Year (Small Markets) and the Turnaround Management Association’s Small Company Turnaround of the Year Award.

Dr. Guterman is a thought leader in healthcare innovation, exhibiting an unwavering commitment and passion for using new solutions to endemic healthcare challenges.
